Aguero Leads Etihad Rout
Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League with a resounding 6-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Sergio Aguero stole the show with a magnificent hat-trick, while Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, and Fernandinho also got on the scoresheet.
The result was a devastating blow to Chelsea's title hopes and highlighted the gulf in class between the two sides. City dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match, while Chelsea struggled to find their rhythm and produce any real attacking threat.
Aguero opened the scoring in the 13th minute, converting a penalty after Sterling was fouled in the box. The Argentine striker doubled City's lead just 10 minutes later with a clinical finish from close range.
Sterling made it 3-0 in the 25th minute with a beautiful curling effort from the edge of the area. Gundogan extended City's advantage further in the second half with a well-placed header from Bernardo Silva's cross.
Fernandinho scored the fifth goal in the 80th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box, before Aguero completed his hat-trick in the 86th minute with a delightful chip over Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The victory takes City back to the top of the Premier League table, two points ahead of Liverpool. With 14 games remaining, the title race is still very much alive, but City will be confident of retaining their crown after this impressive display.
